My exposure to the English language

I aim to share insights about my homeland, Pakistan. While my specialization and interests revolve around accounting, economics, and finance, I also appreciate the broader subject of education. Occasionally, I find joy in expressing my views on this important topic, and I currently have a work awaiting publication in this area. Upon its publication, I am eager to delve into further articles on different subjects beyond my core area of interest.

I also wish to elaborate on this topic, as I distinctly recall my early experiences with the internet. Back in 1999, when I purchased my first desktop computer, I engaged in online searches on various subjects. However, on numerous websites, when prompted to select my destination country, Pakistan was noticeably absent from the list on 99 percent of these platforms. It raised concerns that, if, in 1999, Pakistan was largely unrecognized in digital spaces, it could contribute to misconceptions about the country's educational standards, English proficiency, and overall awareness. Addressing this issue requires governmental intervention to communicate with the U.S. government about the education system in Pakistan. The Education Department, operating under the government of Pakistan, should collaborate with its U.S. counterpart, providing insights into how our education system functions. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that students aspiring to study abroad are facilitated rather than rejected based on fundamental criteria of the English language.

If the communication between education departments encounters challenges or reveals deficiencies, it becomes the responsibility of professors to engage in intercountry dialogue, fostering collaboration on an academic level. In the event that this avenue proves insufficient, the duty falls on writers, such as myself, to enlighten the public on this matter. Addressing this issue at the writer's level is crucial, as it initiates a dialogue from individual to university levels to resolve the matter. Currently, I am actively fulfilling this role, raising my voice both as a writer and as an individual. My admiration for education abroad extends to the commitment to freedom of speech by advanced countries, a right granted to every individual.

I am reaching out to convey my keen interest in seeking admission to different reputed universities, renowned for their remarkable history and prominent rankings globally. What particularly appeals to me about foreign universities is the extensive research initiatives, distinguished alumni contributing to prestigious universities, a thriving research environment, and a faculty known for excellence. I have pursued my education from Grade 1 to a Master in Philosophy in Accounting and Finance (all courses studied in the English language), along with obtaining a Master's in Public Administration from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad (all courses studied in the English language).

My educational journey spans from Grade 1 to a Master in Philosophy in Accounting and Finance (all courses, exams, medium of instruction, books, assignments, presentations, and studies in the English language), all completed in the English language. Additionally, I hold a Master's in Public Administration from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, also completed in English (all courses, exams, medium of instruction, books, assignments, presentations, studied in the English language).Similarly, from grade 1 to bachelors, all subjects (all courses, exams, medium of instruction, books, assignments, presentations, and studies in the English language).

I also gave professional exams at institutes like the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (https://www.icap.org.pk), the Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (https://www.pipfa.org.pk), and the Institute of Bankers Pakistan (IBP) (https://ibp.org.pk).during which all courses, exams, mediums of instruction, books, assignments, and presentations are studied in the English language. With over two decades of experience in the corporate sector, including roles as a marketing executive and currently as managing director, English has been the official language in all professional communications. I have contributed to academia by publishing three articles in a British journal, one in a US journal, and awaiting approval for one in an Australian journal. Currently, I am actively engaged in writing several more articles that will soon be published.

Pakistan gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1947, and since then, our education system has been entirely in English. Institutions like mine—Aitchison College, FC College, and Punjab University—were established by Englishmen. English has been the medium of instruction throughout my academic journey, which commenced in 1980. From school, where all courses, exams, and instruction were in English, to college, where the same held true, and onward to university with a consistent emphasis on English, my professional life has also been conducted primarily in this language. In the office, written communication is in English, and all company documents are prepared in the same language.

My primary aim is to elucidate my perspective for you, recognizing that the ultimate decision regarding admission rests in your hands. I will respectfully accept your decision, acknowledging your expertise in evaluating students. However, it was essential for me to articulate my standpoint to ensure that I made an informed decision about expressing my point of view rather than following a course blindly. I find contentment in what you convey, understanding that your judgment is comprehensive and considers all relevant factors. This detailed overview demonstrates my consistent exposure to and proficiency in the English language throughout my academic and professional endeavors.
